The PBS Online Film Festival returns July 11- 29, 2016. The PBS Online Film Festival showcases powerful and engaging stories from filmmakers across the country. CAAM is proud to be part of this festival along with Independent Lens, POV, StoryCorps, and our National Minority Consortia partners: Latino Public Broadcasting, National Black Programming Consortium, Pacific Islanders in Communication, and Vision Maker Media. Starting on July 11th, you can watch the festival on PBS and station digital platforms, including PBS.org, YouTube and PBS social media channels. The films will also be available via the PBS app on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku and FireTV devices. In addition to seeing powerful films, you can also share your favorite films and vote for the film you think should receive the “PBS People’s Choice” award. Tune into the PBS Online Film Festival website for more details.
CAAM’s entry this year is Home is a Hotel, directed by Kevin D. Wong and Todd Sills. The short film, documenting a mother and daughter living in one of San Francisco Chinatown’s single room occupancy hotels, won the Loni Ding Award in Social Issue Documentary at this year’s CAAMFest. The film will be available to watch on PBS.org beginning July 11.
The film with most votes will receive the “PBS People’s Choice” award. For the first time ever, viewers can vote for their favorite film by logging onto their Facebook or Twitter account and sharing their favorite film titles using the #PBSolff.
