“Home is a Hotel” Top 5 in PBS Online Film Festival

As the PBS Online Film Festival comes to a close, we are proud to announce that Home is a Hotel, directed by Todd Sills and Kevin D. Wong, is one of the top five films as determined by votes from the public.

Home is a Hotel received the prestigious Loni Ding Award for Social Issue Documentary at CAAMFest 2016 this March.¬†Films like Home is a Hotel opens up our eyes to lives beyond most of our immediate worlds. In this case, it is a mom raising a growing daughter in a 8×10 room in San Francisco’s Chinatown. We hear from them in Cantonese and Toisanese about the tiny quarters in which they live, where they share bathrooms and a kitchen with other residents, and we hear about their hopes and dreams.

The filmmakers plan to expand on this short film and develop it into a bigger project. Stay tuned to hear more about their plans.

Thank you to everyone who watched, voted and shared Home is a Hotel and all of the other wonderful films — 25 total — in this year’s PBS Online Film Festival! These films reached more than 4.5 million people last month during the film festival.

And, congratulations to the People’s Choice winner, GoldStar, presented by Latino Public Broadcasting!
